BIS raises gold hallmarking fee to Rs 75 per article; silver charge remains Rs 35

New Delhi, Sep 16 (UNI) The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has notified revised hallmarking fees under the Bureau of Indian Standards (Hallmarking) Amendment Regulations, 2026, raising the hallmarking charge for gold articles payable by jewellers to recognised Assaying and Hallmarking Centres to Rs 75 per article, while the fee for silver articles has been retained at Rs 35 per article.
According to the notification, jewellers sending gold articles for hallmarking to recognised Assaying and Hallmarking Centres will pay Rs 75 per article, with a minimum fee of Rs 200 per consignment. For silver articles, the prescribed fee is Rs 35 per article, subject to a minimum consignment charge of Rs 150.
The notification also revises the charges levied by BIS on recognised Assaying and Hallmarking Centres. For gold articles, BIS will charge Rs 7.50 per article, with a minimum fee of Rs 20 per consignment, while for silver articles, the charge will be Rs 3.50 per article, with a minimum of Rs 15 per consignment.
Applicable taxes at prevailing rates will be levied in addition to the prescribed hallmarking fees, the notification said.

HP school education board warns 129 state open school study centres for not conducting PCP classes

Dharamshala, Sep 17 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has taken strict action against 129 State Open School (SOS) study centres for failing to conduct mandatory Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes for students enrolled in the September 2026 session.
Board Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma said all study centres had already been directed to conduct PCP classes for newly enrolled students and those opting for additional subjects.
