Over four lakh lamps lit across Panchkula as month-long Seva Sankalp campaign begins

Panchkula, Sep 17 (UNI) More than four lakh earthen lamps were lit at around 275 locations across Panchkula district on Thursday as the administration launched the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, aimed at expanding awareness and access to government welfare schemes.
Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma joined the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme at the Parade Ground in Sector 5, where he also distributed Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY) cards to 100 eligible beneficiaries.
The cards entitle beneficiaries to free travel of up to 1,000 kilometres annually on Haryana Roadways buses.
The campaign will run from September 17 to October 17, with activities planned to take information about welfare schemes to citizens and help eligible beneficiaries access their benefits.
The lamp-lighting programme was held at government offices, Anganwadi centres, educational institutions and community centres at the district headquarters as well as subdivision and block levels.
Lamps were also lit and havan-yajna ceremonies performed at major religious places.
Residents participating in the programme also reaffirmed their commitment to the ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’ initiative.
The district administration has appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner Vivek Arya as nodal officer for implementation of the month-long campaign.
SDM Mannat Rana has been made nodal officer for the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme in Panchkula subdivision and SDM Sanyam Garg for Kalka subdivision.
The Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department also organised cattle health check-up camps at gaushalas across the district, where veterinarians examined cattle and provided veterinary services.
Havan-yajna ceremonies and the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme were also held at the gaushalas.
Haryana Livestock Development Board Chairman Ashok Sirsi attended the programme at Panchkula Gaushala Trust, Saketri, while Animal Husbandry and Dairying Director General Dr Prem Singh was the guest of honour.
Public representatives, including Kalka MLA Shakti Rani Sharma, Mayor Sham Lal Bansal, Scheduled Castes Commission Chairperson Banto Kataria, former Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta and district president Ajay Mittal, participated in programmes at different locations.
Meanwhile, a rangoli measuring 108 units in diameter is scheduled to be inaugurated at the Parade Ground in Sector 5 on September 18.
According to the district administration, it will be made using locally sourced materials and dedicated to the theme of service to the nation.
Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar is scheduled to attend the September 18 programme as the chief guest.

HP school education board warns 129 state open school study centres for not conducting PCP classes

Dharamshala, Sep 17 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has taken strict action against 129 State Open School (SOS) study centres for failing to conduct mandatory Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes for students enrolled in the September 2026 session.
Board Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma said all study centres had already been directed to conduct PCP classes for newly enrolled students and those opting for additional subjects.
