Four arrested, 12 stolen motorcycles recovered in Karnal

Karnal, Nov 6 (UNI) Police have arrested four men and recovered 12 stolen motorcycles in separate operations across Haryana's Karnal district, officials said on Friday.

The motorcycles were allegedly stolen from areas under seven police stations, including Karnal
City, Civil Lines, Nissing, Indri, Butana, Taraori and Sector 32/33.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Suresh Gahlawat, in-charge of the Anti-Auto Theft Unit, said three police teams were formed to investigate a series of motorcycle thefts in the district. Acting on specific information, one team arrested Saurabh and Rohit, alias Jaman, both residents of Lalyani village, near Sector 16 in Karnal. Five stolen motorcycles were recovered after the suspects were questioned, police said.
A second team arrested Amritpal Singh, alias Lucky, a resident of Nilokheri, from Sector 16 and recovered three stolen motorcycles.
In another operation, Vishal, alias Vishu, a resident of Dachar village, was arrested on the Karnal-Nissing road. Four stolen motorcycles were recovered from his possession.
"Three separate teams arrested four accused and recovered 12 stolen motorcycles during the operations," Gahlawat said, according to the police account.
Police said Saurabh had previously been jailed in theft cases, while Amritpal had been lodged in Karnal jail in connection with an assault case.
Rohit had earlier been jailed in Patiala in a kidnapping case. Investigators are examining the suspects' possible involvement in other vehicle thefts. All four accused were produced before
a court on Friday and remanded to judicial custody, police said.
