ASI caught taking Rs 20,000 bribe after threatening to register rape case

Panchkula, Sep 20 (UNI) In its ongoing campaign against corruption, the Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV and ACB) has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The accused had allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh, threatening to register a rape case against a young man if the money was not paid, officials said on Friday.
The arrested officer has been identified as ASI Hidayat Khan, Investigating Officer posted at Tigaon police station in Faridabad. A case, FIR No. 21 dated September 19, 2026, has been registered against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the SV and ACB police station in Faridabad.
