Man arrested for kidnapping, allegedly raping minor girl in Haryana's Dabwali; motorcycle seized

Dabwali, Oct 19 (UNI) Police in Haryana's Dabwali district have arrested a man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a minor girl who was reported missing on September 7, officials said on Monday. The girl has been traced and the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime has been recovered.
The arrest followed an investigation by Kalanwali police after the girl's family lodged a complaint alleging that an unidentified person had taken her away and concealed her whereabouts.
A police spokesperson said a case was initially registered under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and efforts were launched to trace the missing girl.
The investigation, led by Woman Sub-Inspector Sushil Bala, resulted in the rescue of the minor. Based on her subsequent statement and other evidence gathered during the investigation, police added charges relating to kidnapping and rape under the BNS and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
"Acting on evidence and technical inputs collected during the investigation, police teams conducted raids at suspected locations and arrested the accused," the spokesperson said.
Police also seized the motorcycle allegedly used in the commission of the offence.
The accused is being questioned to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction and sexual assault. He will be produced before a court for further legal proceedings.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Dabwali Superintendent of Police Jasleen Kaur and Kalanwali Deputy Superintendent of Police Lalit Kumar as part of a special campaign against crimes involving women and children.
Police said the investigation was continuing and that action would be taken against any other person found involved in the case.
"Crimes against women and children will not be tolerated, and strict legal action will be ensured against those involved in such offences," the police spokesperson said.
