Haryana: Karnal Police crack two murders linked to robbery gang, arrest two, detain three minors

Karnal, Oct 15 (UNI) Karnal Police on Thursday claimed to have cracked two murders allegedly committed by members of the same robbery gang, arresting two prime accused and apprehending three juveniles.
Investigators also uncovered the gang's suspected involvement in at least five other knife-point robberies across the district.
The CIA-2 unit arrested Gaurav alias Goru and Ankush Saini in connection with the separate murders of Vinod Kumar and Manglu, whose bodies were recovered on October 11 and October 4, respectively.
Addressing a press conference, DSP Rajiv Kumar said investigations indicated that members of the gang had targeted the victims with the intention of robbing them.
In the first case, Vinod Kumar, a resident of Birchpur village, was found dead with multiple stab wounds in the Barota area on October 11. Police arrested Gaurav, a resident of Mahabir Colony, on October 13 and subsequently apprehended three juveniles allegedly involved in the killing.
"Investigations revealed that the accused stabbed Vinod Kumar to death with the intention of robbing him and fled with his cash and mobile phone," the DSP said.
Police recovered the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime, the victim's mobile phone and slippers, and Rs 4,800 from the stolen cash. A court remanded Gaurav to five days of police custody.
In the second case, Manglu, a resident of Balaji Colony, was found dead along a roadside near Kalpana Chawla Gate in Haqiqat Nagar on October 4.
Police arrested Ankush Saini, also from Mahabir Colony, on October 14. He was remanded to four days of police custody for further interrogation.
The DSP said questioning of suspects arrested in the Vinod Kumar murder case had also revealed their alleged involvement in around five robberies in the Sadar Karnal, Madhuban and Ram Nagar police station areas, where pedestrians were threatened with knives at night.
The CIA-2 team, headed by Inspector Praveen Kumar, is investigating the gang's wider criminal network and possible involvement in other offences.
Police said further arrests and recoveries could follow as interrogation continues.
