Hisar police arrest four, seize heroin and petroleum products; return 15 lost phones

Hisar, Oct 23 (UNI) Hisar police arrested four people in separate cases involving drugs, livestock theft and the alleged illegal sale of petroleum products, seizing 12.12 grams of heroin and around 121 litres of petroleum liquid, while also returning 15 recovered mobile phones to their owners, according to statements issued on Friday.
In the narcotics case, the CIA unit arrested Jagir Singh of Peeranwali village after allegedly recovering 12 grams and 120 milligrams of heroin, estimated to be worth ₹61,000, from his possession.
Sub-Inspector Inder Singh said the team acted on a tip-off while patrolling Peeranwali. A case was registered at Sadar Hisar police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Police said eight previous cases under the NDPS Act had been registered against Singh. Further investigation into the latest case is underway.
In a separate operation, Agroha police arrested two men for allegedly storing and selling petroleum liquid without a licence at Seth Ji Da Dhaba on Barwala Road.
Agroha police station in-charge Inspector Ishwar Singh said that a raid, based on information, led to the recovery of two drums containing approximately 83 litres and 38 litres of petroleum liquid.
The arrested men were identified as Mukesh Kumar of Sidhmukh and Pradeep Kumar of Durjanpur in Hisar. A case was registered under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Uklana police arrested Mohammad Asif of Baghra village in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district on October 22 in connection with the theft of a panchayat-owned male buffalo from Bithmara village.
The animal has yet to be recovered.
Police said the theft occurred around 3 am on October 1 and was reported by village resident Dharambir. CCTV footage showed a vehicle and motorcycles used during the incident.
Investigators identified the suspect through technical evidence and further inquiries, police said. Searches continue in Uttar Pradesh and other suspected locations to recover the animal and trace others allegedly involved.
Separately, the Hisar cyber cell recovered 15 lost mobile phones and returned them to their owners at a programme at the Superintendent of Police’s office.
Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain personally handed over the phones, which police said were collectively worth lakhs of rupees.
The team, led by cyber cell in-charge Amit, used IMEI tracking, digital surveillance, and location analysis to trace the devices after complaints from their owners. Technology is truly meaningful when it is used for public service.
Hisar police’s objective is not only to prevent crime but also to resolve people’s problems promptly and provide relief,” Jain said.
He said the cyber team would continue using technology to assist citizens.
According to the police statement, recipients thanked the cyber cell and said they had almost given up hope of recovering their phones.
