Nuh Police arrest proclaimed offender in 20 cattle smuggling cases

Nuh, Oct 11 (UNI) Nuha Police have arrested a proclaimed offender allegedly involved in around 20 cases of cattle smuggling and slaughter, along with another accused who had jumped bail in a 2022 kidnapping case, during a special drive against absconding criminals in Nuh district in Haryana, police said on Sunday.
The arrests were made by the Punhana Proclaimed Offender (PO) Staff under a special campaign launched on the directions of Nuh Superintendent of Police Dr Arpit Jain to trace proclaimed offenders and accused who have failed to appear before courts after securing bail.
A police official said the first accused, identified as Khalid, son of Jalaluddin and a resident of Ali Mew village under Bahin police station in Palwal district, had been evading arrest for a considerable period.
According to police, around 20 criminal cases relating to cattle smuggling and slaughter are registered against Khalid at Ferozepur Jhirka and Pinangwan police stations in Nuh district and Bahin police station in Palwal district.
He had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court in a case registered at Ferozepur Jhirka. Police said he had also failed to appear before courts after securing bail in eight other cases.
Acting on specific intelligence, the Punhana PO Staff traced and apprehended Khalid. He was subsequently handed over to the Sadar Ferozepur Jhirka police for further legal proceedings.
In a separate operation, the same team arrested Tasleem alias Bhura, son of Shahid and a resident of Sarai village under Mundkati police station in Palwal district.
Police said Tasleem was wanted for failing to appear before court after securing bail in a kidnapping case registered at Sadar Tauru police station in 2022.
He had allegedly remained absconding for a prolonged period before being apprehended by the Punhana PO Staff. Following his arrest, he was handed over to Sadar Tauru police for further investigation and legal action.
Superintendent of Police Dr Arpit Jain said the district police would continue its special campaign against proclaimed offenders, bail jumpers and other absconding accused.
"The drive to apprehend criminals, proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers will continue across the district," Jain said.
Police said efforts were being intensified to trace individuals evading judicial proceedings and ensure their production before the courts.UNI KK AAB
