UP: Ex-BJP MP Kashyap's meeting with SP president Akhilesh Yadav rakes up new political equations in Bareilly region

Lucknow, Oct 11 (UNI) After breaking ties with the BJP, former MP Dharmendra Kashyap met Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav at the Janeshwar Mishra Trust Bhawan here today, sparking the speculation of the possibility of new equations in the politics of Bareilly.
His daughter, Kirti Kashyap, was also present during this meeting.
The presence of SP's Bareilly district president Shubhalesh Yadav and senior leader Veerpal Singh Yadav has brought this meeting beyond a mere formal meeting and into the centre of political discussion.
SP President Akhilesh Yadav tweeted that "Friendship visit! Meeting with Shri Dharmendra Kashyap, two-time MP from Amla Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh, joint efforts were discussed to make the 'PDA Movement' more capable, strong and active. Only PDA can give respect and place to every 'suffering, unhappy, insulted' person."
Dharmendra Kashyap's reaching out to the SP leadership after leaving the primary and active membership of the BJP is being seen as linked to the possibility of new equations in the politics of Bareilly, especially the Amla region.
Sources hinted that Kashyap is seeking an MLA ticket fir his daughter Kriti.
Kashyap, while distancing himself from the BJP, had expressed displeasure over neglect within the party, alleged infighting, and issues related to backward communities.
His meeting with Akhilesh Yadav has now raised questions about whether he is seeking a new platform for his next political career. However, there has been no formal announcement of his joining the Samajwadi Party (SP) yet.
The presence of the SP district president and a senior leader at the meeting is considered politically significant. This indicates the possibility of dialogue between the local organization in Bareilly and the SP's top leadership regarding Dharmendra Kashyap. However, it would be premature to finalize any political agreement or joining the party based on this meeting.
Kashyap has been active in the politics of the Bareilly and Amla regions. Consequently, his separation from the BJP and subsequent move to the SP is politically significant, potentially impacting the opposition's strategy and political alignment with the SP in the future. For now, the meeting has opened the door to possibilities, but only Kashyap's next move will reveal whether this is the beginning of a major political shift or merely an initial contact.
