Rajasthan: Additional SP & middleman arrested in Rs 2 crore bribe case

Jaipur, Sep 27 (UNI) A Rajasthan Police Additional Superintendent was arrested in Udaipur on Sunday following the trapping of a middleman in Rs 2 crore bribe case last night.
The middleman, Sajjan Singh Jain, was allegedly accepting the bribe, perhaps the highest value-wise so far, on behalf of the police officer.
A Rajasthan State Anti-corruption Bureau spokesman said here that Sajjan Singh was trapped by a team led by Dy Superintendent Sonu Shekhawat while accepting the bribe for the Additional Superintendent Mukesh Soni in Udaipur last night.
On the basis of the revelations during the preliminary interrogation with middleman Singh, the police officer Soni was detained in Balotra last night itself. After further grilling, Soni was arrested in Udaipur.
The spokesman said the bureau received a confidential complaint on September 23 in which it was alleged that a large sum of money was being demanded for helping in some high-profile Udaipur Municipal Corporation land scam.
Addl SP Soni was detained by the ACB team from his Balotra residence and immediately brought to Udaipur.
