UP CM Yogi performs groundbreaking ceremony for two townships worth Rs 12,000 cr in Lucknow

Lucknow, Sep 24 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that during previous governments, pistols and bombs were manufactured in Lucknow, but now the BrahMos missile is being manufactured in the city.
On Thursday, Mr. Yogi performed the groundbreaking ceremony for two ambitious housing projects of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar, with a combined estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crore.
He said that both projects will be developed on 10,680 acres of land. Varun Vihar will be developed on 6,500 acres and is expected to accommodate six lakh people, while Naimish Nagar will be developed on 4,100 acres for four lakh people. The foundation stone for five multi-storey apartment projects, worth Rs 2,166 crore, was also laid.
The Chief Minister said that unplanned development had led to land being sold to powerful people and gangsters, creating several problems. He said the focus is now on planned development. Farmers will receive fair compensation, there will be no intermediary between the LDA and farmers, and brokerage will not be permitted.
He said Varun Vihar will be connected to the Purvanchal Expressway, while a four-lane road will be constructed from Lucknow to Naimisharanya. Lucknow will be developed as a State Capital Region (SCR), comprising Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki and Rae Bareli.
Chief Minister Yogi said farmers whose land is being acquired for the projects will receive fair compensation. No brokerage will be allowed, and there will be no intermediary between the LDA and the farmers. Negotiations will be conducted directly, and compensation will be transferred to the landowners' bank accounts.
Chief Minister Yogi said Muneshwar Singh of Dona village received compensation of Rs 3.13 crore, Ramdei of Rewari received Rs 2.05 crore, Kamlesh Kumar received Rs 2.80 crore, and Sushma Singh of Abbas Nagar received Rs 2.90 crore.
Namra Fatima purchased land elsewhere with the compensation and said she would use the remaining money to prepare for medical studies. Om Prakash Awasthi purchased 16 bighas of land with the compensation received for 1.5 bighas and deposited the remaining amount in a fixed deposit (FD).
Chief Minister Yogi announced that four-lane connectivity will be established between Lucknow and Naimisharanya. He said that in the future, there would be no distance between Lucknow and Naimisharanya. Connectivity to the Purvanchal Expressway will also be provided through Varun Vihar.
