CEC postpones his Meerut and Varanasi visit

Lucknow, Sep 25 (UNI) Chief Election Commissioner CEC) Gyanesh Kumar has reportedly postponed his official programs in Meerut and Varanasi .
The decision was taken in view of the recent developments after media reports of a decent note by two commissioners over the ongoing SIR.
According to sources here on Friday, in Meerut, CEC was scheduled to attend a regional conference of Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC 2.0) and ECINET and a dialogue with youth today. He was also scheduled to interact with Gen-G in Varanasi on September 28.
But both programs have now been postponed.
According to media reports, Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi have filed written objections to decisions and orders more than 14 times in the past 10 months.
Last month, the Chief Election Commissioner interacted with the District Returning officers of 33 districts in Lucknow.
The Commission had planned to conduct field-level campaigns in Meerut and Varanasi.
These events have now been postponed.
The Commission did not provide reasons for the postponement, but it is believed that the recent controversy may have led to the postponement. UNI MBD SAS
