25 BTC colleges have applied for withdrawal of recognition in UP

Lucknow, Sep 22 (UNI) There used to be a fierce competition for admissions to D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education), also known as BTC (Basic Training Certificate) in Uttar Pradesh, and this led to the opening of numerous private colleges in the state. But now, the situation has reached a point where colleges are facing closure due to a lack of students. Around 25 colleges in the state have applied for withdrawal of recognition.
This year, the admission deadline was extended once. Despite this, 87,000 fewer applications were received than the total number of seats. A total of 1.52 lakh applications were received against a total of 2.39 lakh seats. The number of students who participated in counseling and filled their options remained at 1.03 lakh.
According to department sources, it is believed that a large number of students will drop out if they do not get their preferred college. This problem is not unique to this year; year after year, young people are becoming disillusioned with BTC.
