Haryana SIR: 3.43 lakh hearing cases pending, EC orders special camps to speed up disposal

Panchkula, Oct 7 (UNI) Haryana has 3,43,127 notice-related hearing cases pending under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, prompting the Election Commission to order special camps and door-to-door surveys to expedite disposal and collect documents from voters who have yet to complete the process.
According to the latest district-wise review, 44,91,923 notices have been generated across Haryana, while the 3,43,127 pending hearing cases account for 7.64 per cent of the total.
The latest figures also indicate a substantial reduction in the backlog. On October 1, the authorities had reported 4,34,975 pending hearings out of 44,91,691 notices. The number of pending cases has, therefore, fallen by 91,848 since then.
The Election Commission has placed special emphasis on the time-bound disposal of cases arising from notices and hearings and directed officials to ensure expeditious action, effective monitoring, and strict compliance with the prescribed procedure.
To further clear the pending cases, special camps and door-to-door surveys will be conducted from October 7 to 9 at polling stations where voters who received notices have not yet submitted the required documents.
Officials will collect the necessary documents from such electors during the three-day exercise to facilitate completion of their cases.
The Commission has also asked voters who have received notices to appear for their hearings on the scheduled date and submit the prescribed documents within the stipulated period.
Political parties have meanwhile deployed thousands of Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) across Haryana's 20,864 polling stations as part of the electoral roll revision exercise.
The BJP has appointed 19,554 BLA-2s, while the Congress has named 17,127. The INLD has appointed 2,186, JJP 1,093, CPI(M) 314, BSP 146, and AAP 54.
At the BLA-1 level, the BJP and Congress have appointed 90 each, followed by JJP with 87, AAP with 82, INLD with 79, BSP with 63 and CPI(M) with 36.
