UP Legislative Council biennial polls for 5 Graduate, 6 Teachers seats on Oct 23; MCC in force across 72 districts

Lucknow, Sep 22 (UNI) The Election Commission of India ECI) Tuesday announced the schedule for the biennial elections to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council for 11 seats on October 23.
Relevant provisions of the Election Model Code of Conduct have come into force with immediate effect in 72 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer ( CEO) Navdeep Rinwa informed here that the term of office of the members elected from the 5 Graduate and 6 from Teacher constituencies of the state Legislative Council expires on December 6, 2026. He informed that, as per the schedule released by the Commission, the election notification will be issued on September 29. The last date for filing nominations is October 6, scrutiny of nomination papers is October 7 and the last date for withdrawal is October 9.
