Amit Shah to join 'Seva Jyoti Yatra' in Gurugram on Oct 7; Modi to address Haryana events virtually

Gurugram, Oct 6 (UNI) union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate in a "Seva Jyoti Yatra" in Gurugram on October 7 as the Bharatiya Janata Party holds "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabhas" across 23 districts of Haryana, state BJP president Archana Gupta said on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the gatherings virtually from Delhi, Gupta told reporters at the BJP's Gurukamal office in Gurugram.
In Gurugram, Shah will join the Seva Jyoti Yatra from Shiromani Maharana Pratap Swarna Jayanti Park in Laser Valley to Signature Tower Chowk, where he will install a "Seva Jyoti" torch, she said.
The programmes are being organised under the party's "Seva Sankalp Abhiyan" to mark 25 years since Modi assumed office as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, Gupta said.
"Prime Minister Modi wants the resolve of Viksit Bharat 2047 to become not merely a government objective but a national campaign driven by people's participation," Gupta said. She said the Seva Jyoti Yatra was intended to encourage citizens to consider how they could contribute to society and nation-building.
"Wide-ranging transformation cannot be achieved through government efforts alone. The resolve of a developed India can be realised only through people's participation," she said.
Gupta said Modi, during an interaction with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and legislators, had stressed the need to turn cleanliness into a mass movement and give greater emphasis to natural farming and water conservation.
She said small groups of farmers should be engaged and encouraged to adopt natural farming practices, adding that protection of soil, water and the environment was a collective responsibility.
The Haryana BJP has also launched the "Namo Seva Haryana" portal through which people can register as volunteers and participate in service-related activities, Gupta said.
She said the party had also undertaken an initiative to facilitate free cataract surgeries for needy patients with the involvement of government hospitals and private doctors associated with the Indian Medical Association.
Under the "Seva Setu" campaign, government employees and BJP workers had worked to help eligible beneficiaries access welfare schemes, she said.
Responding to questions about upcoming elections in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, Gupta predicted that the BJP would form governments in both states, saying the party would approach voters on the issues of "service, good governance and public trust".
