CM Yogi to inaugurate Lucknow GCC Summit as UP steps up global investment push

Lucknow, Oct 23 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh will step up its efforts to emerge as a leading destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) with the UP GCC Innovation Summit 2026, scheduled for October 26 here in Lucknow.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the summit, where 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed and five Letters of Comfort (LoCs) issued to prospective investors.
Organised by the IIT Kanpur Alumni Association in collaboration with Invest UP and HCLTech, the summit is expected to bring together more than 100 senior GCC executives, industry leaders, policymakers, investors, academic institutions and infrastructure stakeholders.
High-level discussions will focus on artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, innovation, talent development and opportunities for global enterprises to establish or expand their operations in Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh aims to attract more than 500 GCCs by 2031, building on its existing base of over 200 centres across sectors such as banking and financial services, semiconductors, engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, technology and digital services. The state is seeking to attract fresh investments while supporting existing centres in expanding their operations.
Under the Uttar Pradesh GCC Policy 2024, eligible investors can access capital subsidies of up to 25% and land subsidies of up to 50%, subject to the applicable provisions and eligibility criteria. The policy seeks to improve project viability and encourage investment in high-value business services, technology and innovation-led operations.
The summit will examine emerging GCC business models, AI-led transformation, advanced technologies and the growing demand for specialised skills. Discussions will also explore ways to strengthen Uttar Pradesh's position as a preferred destination for multinational companies seeking to expand their presence in India.
Noida and Greater Noida continue to attract GCC investments, supported by their proximity to the National Capital Region, connectivity and commercial infrastructure. Lucknow is also emerging as a destination for technology, engineering, innovation and global business services.
The state's academic and research institutions, including IIT Kanpur, IIT (BHU) Varanasi and IIIT Lucknow, offer opportunities to deepen industry-academia partnerships, promote advanced skilling and develop talent for AI-driven and knowledge-intensive industries. Around 13 academic institutions are expected to sign MoUs during the summit to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.
The summit is expected to advance Uttar Pradesh's broader growth ambitions by attracting investment, creating high-value jobs and strengthening its integration with global business networks. These efforts will support the state's transition towards a knowledge-driven economy and its long-term vision of becoming a $1 trillion economy.
