Gen Alpha steps into the world of global diplomacy at UP International Trade Show

Greater Noida, Sep 26 (UNI) More than 100 students from 14 schools stepped into the shoes of global diplomats on Saturday as they took part in the Developed India Model United Nations (MUN) at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2026, held at the India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida.
Representing different member countries of the World Trade Organization (WTO), students from Classes 9 to 12 engaged in discussions on global trade, the world economy, technology and the rapidly evolving global supply chain.
The MUN, themed ‘Developed India 2047’, offered students far more than an academic exercise. It provided a practical platform to understand the complexities of international diplomacy, global trade and policymaking, while developing skills in dialogue, debate, negotiation and consensus-building.
Students presented the trade policies and positions of the countries they represented and deliberated on issues shaping the future of the global economy. Discussions focused on supply-chain management, trade facilitation agreements, the moratorium on digital trade, rules of origin, automation and artificial intelligence, and e-commerce.
The distinctive feature of the MUN is that students are required to go beyond merely presenting the views of their assigned countries. They have to do research and understand each country's economic conditions, trade policies and position on global issues before articulating their stance.
This approach helped students appreciate how international decisions are shaped by the competing interests, economic circumstances and priorities of multiple countries. The exercise also strengthened their abilities in public speaking, research, critical thinking, negotiation and decision-making.
Held as part of the UP International Trade Show, the initiative gave students an opportunity to move beyond textbooks and gain a first-hand understanding of the interconnected nature of the global economy. They explored how supply chains, technology, trade agreements and government policies influence everything from the production of goods to their movement across international markets.
The students also visited various pavilions set up by the Uttar Pradesh government at the trade show, where they explored the state's industries, investment opportunities, exports, technology, handicrafts, culture and heritage. The visit offered them insights into Uttar Pradesh's economic potential while showcasing the cultural diversity of the state and the country.
Students who effectively represented various countries and made significant contributions to the discussions were awarded awards such as "Best Delegate," "High Commendation," and "Special Mention." All participants were also presented with participation certificates.
The MUN sought to connect the vision of ‘Developed India 2047’ with the aspirations and understanding of the next generation. Deliberations on global trade, technology, artificial intelligence, e-commerce and supply chains introduced students to the forces shaping the future economy.
The event is particularly significant as it provided students with an opportunity to participate in a major international trade exhibition and deliberate on issues that are expected to play an important role in shaping the global economy in the years ahead.
