Haryana sets up 'Merlion Desk' to fast-track Singapore investment proposals

Chandigarh, Oct 5 (UNI) Haryana has set up a dedicated “Merlion Desk” to fast-track investment proposals from Singapore as the northern Indian state seeks to attract companies looking to expand their operations in India, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Monday.
Speaking during a fireside chat at the SING Forum in Singapore, Saini said Haryana officials had identified about 20 to 30 major companies before the visit and held virtual meetings with prospective investors.
Several companies had submitted investment proposals and expressions of investment intent during the visit, he said, without identifying the firms or specifying the value of the proposals.
Saini said the Haryana Enterprise Promotion Centre would process investment proposals, while the newly created Merlion Desk would focus specifically on proposals originating from Singapore.
“If, in the coming period, even one company makes an investment in Haryana, I will consider this visit successful,” Saini said.
The chief minister said Haryana had more than 270 global capability centres and a strong automotive ecosystem, while areas outside Gurugram and the National Capital Region offered land, industrial infrastructure and room for expansion.
He said medium-sized companies did not merely have to find space within existing industrial clusters but could build their own business ecosystems in the state.
Saini said Haryana had launched 10 new policies in June and strengthened its single-window clearance mechanism to reduce procedural hurdles for investors.
Under the state's incentive framework, 50% of an eligible incentive could be released within the first seven working days and the remainder within 45 days, he said.
Saini also said Haryana was promoting treated and recycled water for industrial projects with high water requirements and had developed a digital investment platform providing information on specific land parcels.
“If investors want to write the next chapter of their growth in India, Haryana can become their strong and reliable partner,” Saini said.
