Himachal Helicopter Service to Link Sanjauli, Rampur, Reckong Peo from Oct 21 Slug: himachal-helicopter-service-october-21

Shimla, Oct 19 (UNI) Aiming to improve air connectivity to the state’s remote and inaccessible areas, the Himachal Pradesh government will launch helicopter services between Sanjauli, Rampur and Reckong Peo from October 21.
A government spokesperson said here on Monday that the service would operate three days a week—Monday, Friday and Saturday—offering residents of far-flung areas an alternative mode of transportation.
As per the schedule, the helicopter will depart from Sanjauli at 9.55 am and reach Rampur at 10.30 am. It will leave Rampur for Reckong Peo at 10.50 am and arrive there at 11.25 am.
On the return journey, the helicopter will depart from Reckong Peo at 11.30 am and reach Rampur at 12.05 pm. The flight from Rampur to Sanjauli will take off at 12.10 pm and arrive at 12.45 pm.
The spokesperson said Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had announced the service during his visit to Rampur in Shimla district after interacting with local residents and recognising the need to improve connectivity for people living in remote areas.
Following the Chief Minister's directions, Pawan Hans Limited (PHL) has been requested to commence helicopter operations on the Shimla-Rampur route under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN.
The initiative is expected to ease travel difficulties for residents of Rampur and adjoining areas by providing quicker access to Shimla and improving connectivity with Reckong Peo.
Under the RCS-UDAN 5.1, routes connecting Shimla, Rampur, Reckong Peo, Kullu, Manali, Mandi and Chandigarh have been awarded to Heritage Aviation and Pawan Hans Limited.
Heritage Aviation is currently operating RCS flights on the Shimla-Reckong Peo, Shimla-Kullu-Shimla and Chandigarh-Mandi via Kullu routes. Pawan Hans operates helicopter services between Shimla (Sanjauli) and Chandigarh three days a week under the scheme.
An additional flight between Chandigarh and Shimla is operated once a week under the State Regional Connectivity Scheme, with the state government bearing 100 per cent of the viability gap funding (VGF), amounting to approximately Rs 35.70 lakh per month.
These arrangements ensure air connectivity between Chandigarh and Shimla on all seven days of the week, the spokesperson added.
