Living India News officials get police remand in fake sting operation case

Kurukshetra, Oct 11 (UNI) Five officials of Living India News, arrested in a case involving the alleged broadcast of a fabricated video presented as a live sting operation, were remanded to police custody by a court here today for further investigation, Haryana Police said.
According to police, the court remanded Managing Director Atul Agrawal and journalist Neetu to four days of police custody, anchor Sudesh Nain and editor Saurabh to three days, and Lovepreet to one day.
Superintendent of Police Chandra Mohan said the investigation had uncovered significant information from WhatsApp conversations among the accused. Police are examining the digital evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding the preparation and broadcast of the allegedly misleading video.
The SP said preliminary findings from the chats had raised suspicions of a planned disinformation campaign allegedly aimed at targeting Haryana and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in the context of the Punjab elections. Investigators are examining whether the video was prepared and circulated with the intention of damaging the Chief Minister's image.
Police are analysing the WhatsApp conversations, digital records, the authenticity of the video and other relevant material to verify these allegations and establish the sequence of events.
Chandra Mohan said the accused would be questioned during police remand to determine the alleged motive behind the purported fake sting operation and identify other relevant aspects of the case.
He said the investigation was being conducted impartially and transparently, and further action would be taken in accordance with the law on the basis of evidence gathered during the probe.
The allegations against the accused are subject to investigation. UNI KK SS
