Panchkula Police trek 10 km through Kinnaur mountains to rescue missing girl, reunite her with family

Panchkula, Oct 28 (UNI) A team of the Panchkula Police covered around 330 km in 16 hours, including a gruelling 10-km trek through difficult mountain terrain, to trace a 15-year-old girl who had gone missing after being scolded by her mother, and safely reunited her with her family.
The girl had left home in the Amravati area. When the family discovered she was missing, they approached the Amravati Police Post, following which a missing-person case was registered at Pinjore Police Station and a search operation was launched.
Under the leadership of In-charge Pritam Singh, the police team received information that the girl was in a residential locality near the Karcham Dam in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
According to DCP Panchkula Aditi Singh, the team left immediately for Kinnaur and covered approximately 320 km by road in around 11 hours. The search grew tougher as vehicles could not reach the spot and the route involved steep uphill climbs.
Undeterred, the personnel continued on foot and trekked nearly 10 km through rugged mountain terrain, which took about five hours. After sustained efforts in challenging conditions, the team located the girl.
The police took the girl into their care, completed the necessary formalities and handed her over to her family. Relieved to find their daughter safe, the family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Panchkula Police for its dedicated efforts.
Commissioner of Police Pankaj Nain urged young people not to leave home or take any extreme step in anger or distress over a parent's scolding or any other issue. He advised them to discuss their problems and feelings openly with their families. He also appealed to parents to keep communication open with their children, understand their emotions and create a supportive environment in which children can share their problems without hesitation.
