Anil Vij targets Opposition's 'mock Parliament', says leaders walk out of real House but stage debates at home

Panchkula, Oct 31 (UNI) Haryana Minister Anil Vij on Saturday took a sharp swipe at the Congress-led Opposition over its symbolic Parliament proceedings at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence in New Delhi, accusing opposition leaders of walking out of Parliament during actual sessions while staging a mock legislature at home.
In a post on social media platform X, Vij questioned the Opposition's commitment to parliamentary debate, alleging that its leaders preferred symbolic political exercises over participation in proceedings of the country's legislature.
"Those who walk out of discussions during actual parliamentary sessions are now playing mock Parliament in their drawing rooms," Vij said in his post.
He alleged that opposition leaders avoided debates when Parliament was in session but organised their own proceedings when it was not sitting, assigning participants the roles of presiding officers, ministers and speakers.
Vij sarcastically remarked that the mock proceedings had neither disruptions nor walkouts, claiming that the exercise demonstrated the Opposition's preference for a simulated Parliament over the real institution.
His criticism came as leaders of the INDIA bloc gathered at Kharge's New Delhi residence for a symbolic 'public impeachment' of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of electoral irregularities and concerns surrounding the revision of electoral rolls.
