Haryana Congress demands white paper on BJP’s promises, questions CM’s focus on Punjab

Sirsa, Oct 21 (UNI) Haryana Congress president Rao Narender Singh on Wednesday demanded a white paper on 20 key election promises as the BJP government completed two years of its third term, accusing it of failing to address unemployment, farmers’ grievances, crime and corruption.
Addressing a press conference in Sirsa, Singh asked the government to disclose expenditure, beneficiary numbers and implementation timelines for commitments including Rs 2,100 a month for women, two lakh permanent government jobs and five lakh employment opportunities.
“Haryana needs a full-time Chief Minister, not a part-time one,” Singh said, alleging that Punjab politics was receiving greater attention than problems within the state.
“The government must explain how many promises have been fulfilled, how many are under implementation and what timelines have been set for completing the remaining commitments,” he said.
Singh alleged that extortion demands, threats and shootings targeting traders had created an atmosphere of fear.
The government must demonstrate results on public safety instead of evading responsibility, he said.
He also alleged that farmers were facing difficulties in paddy and bajra procurement, delayed payments and poor mandi management, while young people continued to struggle for stable employment.
Questioning the implementation of the BJP’s welfare commitments, Singh sought figures on women receiving the promised monthly assistance, regular government appointments made over the past two years and families benefiting from the promise of free medical treatment worth up to Rs 10 lakh.
He demanded crop-wise procurement and payment figures under the promise to purchase 24 crops at the minimum support price, along with the number of farmers covered.
On the commitment to provide five lakh urban and rural houses, he sought separate figures for homes sanctioned, completed and handed over.
Singh also asked the government to disclose investment, construction progress and jobs for local youth under its proposed ten modern industrial cities.
Promises relating to artificial intelligence, skill education and apprenticeship stipends should be assessed through training and employment outcomes, he said.
The Congress leader sought implementation details for Rs 500 LPG cylinders for eligible families, scooters for rural college-going girls, an Olympic sports nursery in every district and government jobs for Haryana’s Agniveers.
On healthcare, he asked how many hospitals were providing free dialysis and how many patients had benefited. He also called for stronger measures against drug trafficking and better treatment and rehabilitation facilities.
Singh demanded impartial investigations into alleged irregularities in municipal bodies, paddy procurement and MGNREGA, as well as allegations involving public funds, land and illegal mining. Responsibility should be fixed wherever wrongdoing was established, he said.
He sought progress reports, budgets and completion timelines for major projects, including the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, proposed rapid rail routes and the 10,000-acre Aravalli Jungle Safari Park.
He also demanded an impartial inquiry into allegations of electoral roll irregularities. “The government must move beyond publicity and political rhetoric and answer the questions raised by the people,” Singh said.
MLAs Sheeshpal Keherwala and Gokul Setia, district Congress president Santosh Beniwal, former MP Sushil Indora and former MLA K.V. Singh were among those present.
