Where Every Game Is a Lesson: Haryana’s Anganwadis Turn Play into Learning for Children Aged 3 to 6

Panchkula, Oct 23 (UNI) Counting colours, matching shapes, taking turns and sharing stories: in Haryana’s Anganwadi centres, play is becoming the first classroom for children aged 3 to 6.
Under the ‘Aage Badhe Bachpan’ initiative of the Women and Child Development Department, young children are learning through games, conversation and engaging activities, growing in confidence and getting ready for school along the way.
Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhry says the ‘Aage Badhe Bachpan’ initiative aims to nurture confident, curious and school-ready children. To support this, the department has provided Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) to Anganwadi centres, so that children can pick up new ideas easily through play, talk and a variety of activities.
Choudhry said playing together in a group teaches the kids to wait for their turn, cooperate with others and behave well in a social setting. These activities also build confidence, emotional balance and the ability to do things on their own.
She said giving every child equal opportunities to learn and grow is a priority of the government. The department’s aim is that Anganwadi centres become joyful and inspiring places where children learn while playing, discover their talents and step confidently towards a bright future, she added.
