Haryana CM slams Kharge over remarks on Modi's father, accuses Congress of crossing limits of decency

Panchkula, Oct 25 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his controversial remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's father, accusing the opposition party of repeatedly crossing the boundaries of political decency out of frustration.
Reacting to Kharge's remarks during a public programme in Patna, Saini said Congress leaders had earlier insulted the Prime Minister's mother and were now making objectionable comments about his father.
"First, they insulted the revered mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and now they have made an indecent remark about his father. In their desperation for power, Congress leaders are crossing all limits of decency," Saini said in a post on X.
The controversy erupted during an event in Patna on Sunday marking the birth anniversary of Bihar's first Chief Minister, Krishna Singh.
According to reports, Kharge was addressing the gathering when a person interrupted him, saying that Modi would not go anywhere.
The Congress president responded with a remark referring to Modi's father, triggering a political controversy.
Condemning the statement, Saini accused Congress of allowing political frustration to override the standards of dignity expected in public discourse.
He said Kharge and other Congress leaders should recognise that political differences did not justify personal attacks on the family members of elected representatives.
"The frustrated Congress and its president Mallikarjun Kharge must understand that the people of this country are absolutely clear about their faith in Modi's leadership," Saini said.
The Haryana Chief Minister also asserted that electoral mandates, rather than political arrogance, ultimately determine the course of democracy.
"Remember, in a democracy, it is not arrogance but the people's mandate that is supreme. The people will respond to the insulting politics of Congress," he said.
