Anil Vij Rips Into Gandhi Family, Calls Rahul's Protest a "Pre-Planned Political Drama"

Ambala, Oct 8 (UNI) Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij on Thursday joined issue with Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his claim that he was not being granted an audience with the Chief Election Commissioner.
Speaking to mrdiapersons here, the minister demanded concrete proof, challenging the Congress leader to produce the letter, the date and the refusal. "I do not know whether Rahul Gandhi has submitted any request seeking an appointment with the Chief Election Commissioner. If he has, has the Election Commission refused his request? Let the country know the facts. The country is asking for evidence," Vij said.
He pointed out that during his own years in the Opposition, leaders routinely sought and secured meetings with Election Commission officials. "Every individual has the right to seek a meeting with any public authority. They can also meet the Election Commission in the same manner. But Rahul Gandhi should clarify when he sought the appointment, when he wrote the letter and whether the Chief Election Commissioner refused to meet him. If he was denied an appointment, then he has the right to protest. But if no letter was written and no one refused to meet him, then what is the need for this drama?" Vij asked accusing the Congress of manufacturing a grievance to justify street agitation.
He slammed the Gandhi family and the Congress, declaring that the dynasty which once towered over Indian politics has crashed to the ground "because of its own wrong thinking, wrong policies and wrong actions".
He dismissed Rahul Gandhi's ongoing protest in Delhi over alleged vote theft through irregularities in revision of electoral rolls, as nothing more than a "pre-planned political drama and entitled dynasts staging theatre."
"There was a time when people would spend their entire lives trying to reach this family. Today, its grandchildren are lying on the streets. What greater example of democracy can there be than this?" he asked, framing the Congress's current agitation not as a fight for democratic rights but as the desperate spectacle of a fallen elite.
The minister went a step further, alleging that the protest was a staged production rather than a spontaneous outburst. "The Opposition first arranges meals for its MPs at hotels and then takes them to the streets to stage protests. They had meals yesterday and, I hear, they are being served meals today as well. After feeding them, they bring them to the streets. This is the kind of drama being played out across the country," he remarked, dismissing the Delhi demonstration as a choreographed spectacle funded and orchestrated by the Congress leadership.
On the Opposition's demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Vij steered clear of direct comment, saying political parties have their own way of functioning. But he made it clear that public officials, including the CEC, are accessible to anyone who follows the proper procedure. "Not only the Chief Election Commissioner, but any public official is available to the people and anyone can seek an appointment with them," he said.
Vij also hit back at allegations by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal that the BJP is weaponising the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation to intimidate political opponents.
He defended the agencies as institutions carrying out their constitutional responsibilities and turned the question back on the Opposition. "Whether it is the Election Commission, the ED or the CBI, these institutions are carrying out their respective responsibilities. If you have done nothing wrong, then what are you afraid of?" he asked, framing the Opposition's vocal resistance as a tacit admission of guilt. UNI KK CDS
