Was Haryana No. 1 in corruption, job favouritism and land deals?' Saini challenges Congress

Chandigarh, Oct 8 (UNI) Launching a sharp attack on the Congress, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday charged its leaders with misleading the public through a sustained campaign of misinformation while attempting to portray their previous administration as a model of development.
Speaking to reporters here, he challenged the Congress to explain whether its claim of making Haryana the country's number one state was in the index of corruption, nepotism in employemnt recruitment, controversial land deals and failure in electricity supply.
"Was Haryana number one when young people were given jobs through 'parchi and kharchi'?" Saini asked, referring to alleged political recommendations and payments in government recruitment during Congress rule. "Was Haryana number one when people had to wait three days for a cooking gas cylinder?" he further asked.
Without naming anyone, Saini targeted an opposition leader and his son forclaiming that they had made Haryana the number one state. Escalating his attack, he alleged that corruption had been rampant during Congress rule which favoured builders in land-related transactions.
"They promised 24-hour electricity but could not provide even four hours," Saini said and claimed that the BJP's double-engine government was now ensuring round-the-clock electricity supply and strengthening infrastructure across Haryana.
Turning to the Congress's political campaign, Saini alleged that its leaders were taking directions from Delhi. "Calls come from Delhi, and then they start spreading lies," he said.
Defending the BJP government's recruitment policies, the chief minister said, "Today, jobs are being provided without 'parchi' and without 'kharchi'."
He credited Prime Minister Modi's leadership and the BJP's double-engine government for accelerating development in Haryana.
The allegations against the Congress were made by the chief minister during his interaction with reporters. No documentary evidence supporting the specific allegations was provided in the official statement, and the Congress's response was not included. The chief minister made the remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting .
Earlier, Saini visited the residence of former BJP legislator and party state vice-president Deepak Mangla to offer condolences following his father Lala Ved Prakash Mangla's death., who was about 93.
Paying tribute to the 93-year-old deceased, the chief minister described him as a socially committed and religious-minded person who had devoted his life to helping others.
