BJP opposes Omar's statehood resolution, questions reference to 2000 Autonomy resolution

Srinagar, Sep 25 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Friday strongly opposed the resolution on restoration of statehood moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the Legislative Assembly, questioning the inclusion of a reference to the erstwhile Assembly's 2000 autonomy resolution.
Sharma said the BJP had rejected the autonomy resolution when it was passed and questioned why the same resolution had been referred to in the present resolution on statehood.
"This is a totally controversial and unacceptable resolution which the BJP will never tolerate," Sharma told reporters outside the J&K Assembly.
