Akhilesh attacks BJP over alleged insult to Shankaracharya, says ‘arrogance of power will be punished’

Lucknow, Sep 29 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over an alleged insult to Shankaracharya, saying the use of “highly offensive” words against a revered religious figure reflected the “arrogance of power and position.”
In a statement, Yadav said that using such language from a public stage against a person regarded as a symbol of Sanatan faith is deeply hurtful to the Sanatan community.
He claimed that the community has never faced such humiliation before and said religious and thoughtful sections of society were saddened by the alleged remarks. He also claimed that several people who support the BJP were embarrassed by the incident.
