UP BJP targets every household, gears up for 2027 Assembly polls

By Manoj Bhadra
Lucknow, Nov 1 (UNI) With its preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections gaining momentum, the ruling BJP has launched an extensive organisational exercise to strengthen its presence from polling booths to individual households, following the directives of union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The strategy, discussed at the party's crucial state working committee meeting, envisages deploying one party worker for every 50 families. The BJP will also constitute district and Assembly-level Election Steering Committees and appoint migrant in-charges at the Assembly constituency level.
Special emphasis will be placed on voter list revision, outreach to government scheme beneficiaries and strengthening social coordination.
BJP National General Secretary and State Incharge Vinod Tawde said that the 2027 elections would be fought through intensive micromanagement and grassroots-level coordination.
He said instructions have been issued to all district incharges to visit assembly constituencies and assembly incharges to visit power centers and polling booths.
Party workers have also been directed to reach out to the maximum number of households in their respective areas and inform voters about the government's development initiatives and welfare schemes, Tawde said.
He stressed the need to engage women, youth, first-time voters, farmers, beneficiaries, small traders, intellectuals and veterans, besides social and religious organisations, through an extensive door-to-door outreach campaign. Active members will also be mobilised and assigned specific electoral responsibilities.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary has directed district-level leaders to accord priority to voter list verification and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
He has asked the party to constitute teams of workers in every block and organise tours, chaupals and public interactions at the Gram Sabha level, while maintaining regular contact with beneficiaries.
Emphasising the importance of grassroots organisation, Chaudhary said the polling booth and its voters would remain the foundation of the party's electoral strategy.
As part of its political outreach, the BJP will organise padyatras under the banner "Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy" across all six organisational regions of the state from November 3. The marches are intended to counter Opposition allegations against the Election Commission of India and the SIR exercise.
The party has set a target of mobilising at least 25,000 participants for each march.
The programmes will also feature senior national and state leaders. On November 3, union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will lead the padyatra in Lucknow's Awadh region, while union Minister J P Nadda will participate in Bareilly for the Braj region.
On November 4, BJP National President Nitin Naveen will attend the programme in Gorakhpur, representing the Gorakh region, while Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya will lead the event in Prayagraj in the Kashi region.
On November 5, CM Adityanath will participate in the padyatra in Ghaziabad in the western region, while Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak will join the march in Kanpur for the Kanpur-Bundelkhand region.
The state leadership has also called for the formation of district and Assembly-level election steering committees, with former office-bearers and elected representatives being assigned organisational responsibilities.
The BJP plans to intensify its voter outreach and revision campaign after Diwali. A special drive will be launched to encourage eligible first-time voters to enrol through Form 6. Separate outreach initiatives will also target youth, women, traders, labourers and small business owners.
Through the exercise, the party aims to strengthen its organisational network at the grassroots level and establish direct contact with voters ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
