UP: Training of master trainers begins for the second phase of Census-2027

Lucknow, Sep 17 (UNI) After the Centre rescheduled the second phase of Population Enumeration of Census-2027 in Uttar Pradesh due to the upcoming Assembly polls, the training programme for master trainers has commenced.
The training programme was launched by Sheetal Verma, Director and Chief Principal, Census Officer, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday.
In UP, the work of Population Enumeration in the second phase of Census-2027 will be conducted from December 1, 2026 to January 4, 2027.
Prior to this, from November 16 to 30, all residents can complete Self Enumeration and obtain a Self-Enumeration ID.
However from December 1, 2026 to January 4, 2027, they will provide the Self-Enumeration ID to the Enumerator, so that their data can be finally recorded in the concerned Enumeration Block. The reference time for Population Enumeration in the second phase of Census-2027 is on January 5, 2027. The revisional round will be conducted from January 5 to 9, 2027.
Sheetal Verma, Director and Chief Principal, Census Officer, said on Thursday that considering the scale of this work in a vast and diverse state like UP, the training of master trainers is extremely important.
"The trained master trainers will further provide the necessary training to Field Trainers and officials engaged in Census work at the district and local levels and will supervise the training of
Supervisors and Enumerators" she said, while adding that the training of master trainers is being organised in eight batches in two slots.
In the first slot, training of four batches will be conducted from September 16 to 19, while in the second slot, training of four batches will be conducted from September 23 to 26. A total of 305 master trainers will provide training to 7,500 field trainers at the district level, and the field trainers will provide training to 5.63 lakh Enumerators/ Supervisors at the tehsil/urban local body level.
The director said the training will cover in detail various processes related to the second phase of Census-2027, questionnaire, methodology of Population Enumeration, enumeration work through digital modes, coverage, quality and other important aspects.
The master trainers are being trained in such a manner that they can provide clear and practical understanding of the subject to the personnel associated with Census work in their respective areas.
There are a total of 4,78,783 Enumeration Blocks in UP and estimated Enumerators and Supervisors (including 10% reserve) will be 5.63 lakh.

Verma said that considering the vastness of the state and its diverse administrative and geographical conditions, complete coverage will require special attention.
"The basic objective of the Census work is to ensure that no household and no person is left out and that no person is enumerated more than once," she said.
She said that master trainers will play an important role in the entire Census process and the quality of their training will have a direct impact on the quality of fieldwork.
"Census-2027 is not merely an exercise of collecting data, but an important national responsibility to create a reliable foundation for planning the future of the country and the state. Successful completion of this responsibility in UP requires special emphasis on training and public cooperation," Verma further said.

Dharamshala, Sep 17 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has taken strict action against 129 State Open School (SOS) study centres for failing to conduct mandatory Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes for students enrolled in the September 2026 session.
