Punjab SSP vigilance who summoned Cong bypoll candidate suspended

Chandigarh, June 6 (UNI) The SSP Vigilance Ludhiana, who issued summons to Bharat Bhushan Ashu, a Congress leader and party's candidate for Ludhiana West bypolls, in school land misuse case, has been suspended, Punjab government sources said on Friday.
Sources said SSP Jagatpreet Singh and Ashu were in touch and Ashu might have orchestrated summons to gain sympathy ahead of the by-elections.
Earlier, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira had written on X that with the summoning of a candidate
in the middle of the by-election, AAP leaders have accepted defeat.
According to the summons, Ashu was supposed to appear before the Vigilance Burea, however with the latest development, there is no need for that.
Meanwhile, Ashu termed Vigilance summons as AAP's political drama. He asked if a SSP could issue summons without permission or knowledge of the higher-ups. He said the ruling AAP was misusing police and agencies, which has boomeranged.
