Shimla, June 7 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Hospital in Shimla this afternoon for a routine medical check-up.
Her visit, although unscheduled, was part of preventive and diagnostic care, according to a medical bulletin issued by the hospital.
A team of specialised doctors supervised her medical evaluation, and a few standard tests were conducted during her brief stay at the hospital.
“All necessary protocols were followed, and the visit was smoothly coordinated by the medical team,” said Dr Rahul Rao, Senior Medical Superintendent of IGMC.
Hospital authorities confirmed that the tests were part of a routine health assessment and no complications were reported.
After the investigations were completed, Sonia Gandhi left the hospital.
Sources said Ms Gandhi has been staying at her Chharabara residence near the Wildflower Hall Hotel on the outskirts of Shimla for the past two weeks.
She is likely to return to New Delhi later Saturday, agency sources confirmed.
Security was kept discreet around the hospital premises, and the visit was handled with minimal disruption.
IGMC officials clarified that her condition was stable and that there was no cause for concern.
