Jammu Division of Indian Railways books its 1st parcel van

Jammu, May 24 (UNI) Moving forward to provide better facilities in passenger transport as well as freight transport, the Jammu Division of Indian Railways has booked its parcel van.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, here on Saturday evening said that parcel van, in which any goods can be booked and transported from one place to another with less time and safety.
In this sequence, he said that as soon as Jammu Division of Northern Railway was formed, after talks and discussions with the Horticulture Department and Fruit Producers Associations of Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu Division was successful in booking its first VP Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Bandra on June three, 2025, with 24 tonne train number 12472.
"With this, the goods of the traders will reach their destination station in about 30 hours with minimum time and without loss," Singhal said.
He added that along with increase in revenue, the confidence of traders will also increase on rail transport.
