Security forces recover arms, ammunition from old hideout in Handwara forest

Srinagar, Oct 7 (UNI) Security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition after detecting and destroying an old militant hideout during a joint search operation in the NagdaNar forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The operation was launched by Handwara Police along with the Army’s 21 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 Battalion CRPF following specific intelligence inputs.
Police said during the search, the joint party detected an old hideout and recovered one AK-47 rifle, three grenades, 857 AK rounds, 192 PIKA rounds, eight AK magazines, one silencer and 83 pistol rounds, besides other incriminating material.
Police said a case has been registered at Police Station Handwara under relevant sections of law, and further investigation has been initiated.
