Asian Games gold medallist archer Kirti Sharma gets grand welcome in Haryana village

Jind, Oct 5 (UNI) Asian Games gold medallist archer Kirti Sharma was accorded a grand welcome on her return to her native Ritoli village in Haryana, with residents celebrating her success in the women’s recurve team event.
Sharma was part of the Indian team that won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating South Korea 5-3 in the final.
Haryana Bureau of Public Enterprises (HBPE) Chairman Mohan Lal Badoli felicitated Sharma at a ceremony organised in the village, presenting her with a traditional turban, shawl and a letter of appreciation.
Villagers welcomed the archer with drums, flower petals and patriotic slogans.
“Kirti Sharma’s achievement is a matter of pride for the entire Haryana and the country,” Badoli said, adding that women athletes from the state had carved a niche for themselves at national and international levels through talent and hard work.
He said Sharma’s performance on the international stage had brought further recognition to Haryana’s sporting tradition.
Badoli said sporting achievements went beyond winning medals as they encouraged young people to embrace hard work, discipline, and dedication.
“Kirti Sharma’s achievement will particularly inspire daughters to take up sports and move forward in the field,” he said.
Badoli wished Sharma success in future competitions and said her gold medal was a matter of pride for her family, Ritoli village, Jind district and Haryana.
Local representatives, villagers, sports enthusiasts and members of Sharma’s family attended the felicitation ceremony.
