Odisha youth explore Himachal’s culture, heritage and development

Shimla, October 5 (UNI) A group of 47 students from Odisha is exploring the culture, heritage and development journey of Himachal Pradesh under a Youth Exchange Programme aimed at promoting interaction and national integration among young people from different states.
The students, representing 32 districts of Odisha, called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here on Sunday. Aged between 18 and 30 years, they are pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate and other courses in Odisha.
The students arrived in Himachal Pradesh on October 3 and will remain in the state till October 8. During their visit, they have visited the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur and Shimla, and are scheduled to visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi, Atal Tunnel and Jwalamukhi Temple.
Welcoming the students, the Chief Minister enquired about their experiences and highlighted the cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh.
He said the people of the state were peace-loving and deeply rooted in its rich 'Dev Sanskriti'.
Sukhu encouraged the students to pursue their goals with dedication and sincerity and make meaningful contributions to society.
The visiting students honoured the Chief Minister by presenting him with a traditional 'Sambalpuri Uttariya' and a Dhokra art painting, reflecting Odisha's rich cultural and handicraft traditions.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the traditional gifts and appreciated the students' gesture.
The Youth Exchange Programme seeks to familiarise students with the culture and history of Himachal Pradesh as well as the state's development journey.
It also provides opportunities for youth from different states to interact, share experiences and understand each other's cultural traditions.
The programme is intended to strengthen the spirit of national unity and integration by promoting greater understanding among young people from different parts of the country.
As part of the reciprocal exchange, around 50 students from Himachal Pradesh will visit Odisha from October 12 to 19.
The visit will provide them an opportunity to experience Odisha's culture, heritage and development initiatives.
