Scan, Watch, Share: UP plans a mobile Ramayan experience at Deepotsav 2026

Ayodhya, Nov 3 (UNI) Visitors to Deepotsav 2026 will be able to scan designated spots at Ram Ki Paidi and watch five 3D Ramayan scenes appear against their actual surroundings, as Uttar Pradesh Tourism prepares a mobile experience aimed at connecting younger travellers with Ayodhya’s heritage.
The planned augmented reality app for iOS and Android will allow visitors to record the scenes and share them on social media. The location-based feature will operate only within Ram Ki Paidi, making a visit to the venue part of the digital encounter.
Alongside the mobile experience, an eight-minute laser show and 20 minutes of projection mapping will form a combined 28-minute presentation on Lord Ram’s homecoming. Fresh visuals, music, animation and a revised storyboard are being developed for this year’s programme.
“The presentations are being designed particularly with Gen Z in mind. Projection mapping, lasers, aerial acts and live performances will bring Indian tradition and modern technology together to tell the story of Lord Ram’s return,” Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said.
The November 7 main programme, in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will feature more than 100 folk and classical artists. A floating stage on the water, human aerial acts and moving props will support the storytelling, with dance, Hindi narration, music and lighting carrying the narrative. Outdoor LED screens and sound systems will help spectators follow the presentation.
Two trial shows are scheduled for November 5, followed by a full dress rehearsal on November 6. On November 7, three additional public shows will follow the main programme. Four shows are scheduled for November 8, featuring the laser and projection mapping components without the dance performance.
A separate show featuring 2,100 Made in India drones will take place on November 9, giving Ayodhya residents another opportunity to watch Ramayan-themed formations illuminate the sky.
“Our effort is to give pilgrims and tourists from India and abroad a memorable experience of Ayodhya’s faith, culture and Deepotsav, while supporting the Visit My State campaign,” said Amrit Abhijat, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, Culture and Religious Affairs. UNI MBD NST
