Rajasthan: CM Sharma launches lethal verbal assault on predecessor Gehlot

Jaipur, Nov 3 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma today launched a lethal verbal assault on his predecessor, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, lobbing strongly worded potshots for alleged nepotism, corruption, falsehood and links of copying - paper leak mafia with CMO under the latter's previous regime.
Addressing a public meeting under the BJP's "Loktantra Bachao - Arajakta Bhagao" campaign in Gehlot's hometown Jodhpur, he came down heavily on the 3-time ex-CM.
The CM's outburst apparently was in retaliation for Gehlot's strong remarks about some unpleasant happenings in the CMO, in the backdrop of controversy over purchase of 40 Villas and Cottages by former additional chief secretary (ACS) in CM's office Shikhar Agarwal.
Sharma said "Gehlot Sahib, I regarded you as senior politician and 3-time CM, but now I realised that "Aap To Jhuth Ka Sahara Lete Hein" (In fact you bank on falsehood) and make false and misleading statements about alleged irregulatities in the CMO. "The officer in your reference was very much in service even under your regime too, what did you do to him during your tenures," he questioned.
Sharms aggressively quipped "I don't know what do you want to hear from me but, I do assure you, I shall respond in the same vein, each and every question (accusation) raised by you. Aap Jo Kahenge Uska Jawab Doonga, Usi Bhasha Mein, Kisi Bhi Tareh Ki Kasar Nahin Chhodunga. Just keep in mind of what your former OSD had revealed about your acts against the rivals-adversaries in your previous tenure ?
To whom you had nominated in the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) after accepting graft; please recall, in what way the person concerned gave rise to scandals, do you remember, how your PSO had links with copying (paper leak) mafia and why he had been jailed. Who was Shashi Kant in your CMO, how your then PSO Rajkumar was coordinating (Sanchaalan) with Copying gang," Sharma went on lobbing questions.
What about Ratan Sharma, Mafat Lal, Mundot, C P Kothari, Rajiv Arora, had I spoken of corruption by such people list would have gone long and the revelations could have "pulled the rug from under your feet," the Chief Minister retorted.
"Just listen, Gehlot Sahib ! If, one's left hand commits wrong (corruption), the left hand will be cut off, if one's right hand does corruption, left hand would be chopped off," Sharma said.
Describing Gehlot as son of Dukaanwala and Jadugar, he said, "Aapki To Jodhpur Mein Khad - Beej Ki Dukaan Thi, Uspar Chapa Bhi Pada Tha (that was raided even). You used to loot farmers, you used to sell spurious fertilizers and seeds (maal) and used to extort high cost from farmers, he remarked.
The Chief Minister also accused Gehlot of nepotism in allotment of certain leases to his family members or relatives.
He also made potshots over issue of the Jal Jeevan Mission scam and arrest of former PHED Minister Mahesh Joshi.
