UP government to expand 'Bharat Taxi', starting in Lucknow, to all 75 districts

Lucknow, Sep 16 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government is set to expand the ‘Bharat Taxi’ service, already operational in Lucknow and Kanpur, to other districts and eventually all 75 districts to improve travel facilities for residents.
There are plans to expand this facility from cities to villages through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies. The UP government will soon offer this facility to the residents of the state. The special feature is that it will offer all three modes of transportation: bike, auto, and cab.
The most important aspect of this model for passengers is no-surge pricing. Sudden fare increases when taxi demand increases impact passengers' budgets. In such a situation, the no-surge system is an attempt to provide an alternative to sudden fare surges for the general public.
This means that a person choosing a taxi for travel will have a model that will not impose fare surges based on peak demand. This will prove especially useful for passengers who have to travel during rush hours for essential work.
Officials here on Wednesday said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this cooperative taxi model is being expanded statewide. Passengers will be offered zero-commission and no-surge pricing, while the concept is to make drivers partners in the business. This model will be expanded to villages along with cities.
The plan is to expand the 'Bharat Taxi' model to all districts of Uttar Pradesh. This initiative is crucial at a time when people need local transportation options for intra- and inter-district travel, to reach railway stations, bus stations, airports, hospitals, markets, or other locations. Expanding the Bharat Taxi model to provide a uniform taxi option across different parts of the state will increase convenience for common travelers.
This will also provide an additional option for organized taxi services to those living in smaller cities
The convenience of the Bharat Taxi model is not limited to passengers alone. The concept of providing taxi drivers with a stake in the system is also a key component. The zero-commission model, instead of deducting a per-trip platform commission from the driver's earnings, seeks to connect them with the business through a cooperative arrangement.
Taxi drivers will move from being mere service drivers to becoming stakeholders in the business. This is also important for passengers because a strong and sustainable driver network is crucial for the availability and continuity of any taxi service.
The scope of this scheme is not limited to district headquarters. The plan is to expand the Bharat Taxi model to villages through PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies). In rural areas, where taxi or cab options are limited, this system could become a new mode of local transportation for people. Local taxi availability is likely to increase for people traveling to hospitals, markets, railway stations, bus stands, or district headquarters.
This will also foster local self-employment opportunities related to vehicle operation in villages. The aim of linking transport services with a network of cooperative organisations is to strengthen this broad reach.
The proposed expansion of Bharat Taxi is a model that integrates both passengers and drivers. On one hand, it offers a new taxi service option for the public, with zero commission and no-surge pricing, while on the other, it provides drivers with a business share.
The most significant benefit from the public's perspective is that a more secure and better travel option will become available. Transparency in fares, no-surge pricing, and increased accessibility will allow passengers to choose an option that suits their needs and budget. HP school education board warns 129 state open school study centres for not conducting PCP classes

Dharamshala, Sep 17 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has taken strict action against 129 State Open School (SOS) study centres for failing to conduct mandatory Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes for students enrolled in the September 2026 session.
Board Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma said all study centres had already been directed to conduct PCP classes for newly enrolled students and those opting for additional subjects.
