World Tourism Day: UP tourism records 7.25-fold rise in 9 years

Lucknow, Sep 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a major expansion in tourism over the past nine years, with tourist arrivals rising from 21.5 crore in 2016 to more than 156 crore in 2025, marking a nearly 7.25-fold increase.
During the same period, the state's tourism budget increased by nearly 20 times, reflecting the government's continued focus on strengthening the sector.
UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “On World Tourism Day, I extend my warm greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh and everyone associated with the tourism sector. Uttar Pradesh has immense potential rooted in its spiritual, cultural and historical heritage, and this year's focus on the Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence highlights how technology can help us offer visitors better information, improved facilities and a more seamless travel experience.”
