Fire breaks out in Finance Department office, Nidhi Bhavan

Vijayawada, May 21 (UNI) Fire broke out in the Finance Department head office, Nidhi Bhavan, located in Mangalagiri near here on Wednesday.

Sources said that a fire broke out in the morning on the second floor of the Finance Department head office, Nidhi Bhavan. The fire erupted in the Director's chamber and spread all over the office, causing panic among over three hundred employees who were working there at the time.

The fire tenders rushed there and extinguished the flames. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav visited the Finance Department office and inquired with the officials on the reason for the fire.
Talking to the media, the Finance Minister made it clear that no damage occurred to the files and computers. He said that a fire broke out due to the burning of the compressor in a refrigerator in the Pay and Accounts Director Padmaja’s chamber.
Fire officer Srinivasa Reddy told the media that since the fire safety equipment did not work, the flames and smoke spread all over, and the exact loss is yet to be ascertained.
