Kerala CM condemns Israel attack, says heart-wrenching news coming from Gaza

Thiruvananthapuram, May 22 (UNI) Condemning Israel's attack on Gaza, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said heart-wrenching news continues to emerge from Gaza.

"The world must unite and act now to force Israel to stop the assault and restore normalcy to Palestinian lives," he said in a message.

"In April alone, Israeli attacks killed over 2,000 Palestinians - more than 200 in just the last two days," he said.

"The UN warns that over 14,000 children could die within days without aid, as a brutal blockade has cut off food, medicine, and essentials," he added.

Earlier, the CPI(M) Politburea expressed its deep anguish at the continuing Israeli aggression on Gaza. It demands an immediate end to Israeli attacks and enforcement of a ceasefire.

In April 2025 alone, 2,037 Palestinians were killed in Israeli air and ground attacks. In the last two days, more than 200 Palestinians lost their lives, it said.

Since October 7, 2023, a total of 53,384 Palestinians have been killed, 94 per cent of whom were civilians - 51 per cent children, 16 per cent women, and 8 per cent elderly, the CPI(M) said.

After denying the entry of aid trucks for more than two months, Israel has permitted only nominal aid to enter Gaza, it said.

"As a result, we see extreme levels of starvation. Encouraged by US support, Israel is now talking about occupying the entire Gaza strip."

The BJP led Government of India should exert pressure on Israel to stop its genocidal attacks. It should join the demand for trying its leaders for war crimes and genocide, the CPI(M) Politburea said.

The CPI(M) reiterates its solidarity with the people of Palestine and for their just demand for a Palestine State with pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital, the Politburea added.
