AP CM directs officials to complete 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027

Vijayawada, Sep 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to complete the construction of 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027 for the houseless poor.

The Chief Minister held a meeting with the officials at his camp office at Undavalli near here on Tuesday and reviewed the construction of houses for the poor.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ground all housing projects to be taken up under various schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and PM Janman, by next month.

He directed that 1.5 lakh houses be constructed in urban areas and told the officials to complete 2.05 lakh houses by December 2026 and another 2.74 lakh houses by March 2027, making them ready for housewarming ceremonies.
The Officials explained to the Chief Minister that 18.72 lakh houses had been sanctioned in the State under PMAY 1.0, PMAY 2.0 and PM Janman, of which 13.20 lakh houses have been completed so far.

“Under the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation, construction of 11.31 lakh houses out of a total 16.11 lakh houses has been completed. Similarly, under AP TIDCO, 1.88 lakh houses out of 2.61 lakh houses have been completed,” the officials apprised the Chief Minister.

Naidu stressed that 75,000 new houses should be sanctioned by December 2027 and bring another 1.5 lakh houses into the pipeline and told them to coordinate with the union Ministries of Rural Development and Housing & Urban Affairs and secure the required allocations.

Naidu told the officials to identify the actual demand among families having no house sites by integrating data from RTGS, Awaas Plus, Housing and Revenue departments, eliminating duplication and ensuring that only eligible beneficiaries are identified.

He emphasized that housing construction in the Kuppam Assembly constituency should be carried out on a saturation basis and reiterated that providing a safe and permanent house to every eligible family in the State by 2029 is the government’s objective and directed all departments to work in coordination to achieve the Housing for All target.

The Housing Department should focus on developing industrial townships in various parts of the State with Central Government support, adding that establishing industrial townships in industrial areas, including Sri City, will create greater scope for increased economic activity and transactions.
