CM Revanth Reddy reviews urban development progress, orders action plan for next 25 years

Hyderabad, June 25 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy today held a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department to assess the status of ongoing infrastructure and civic projects in the Greater Hyderabad region and beyond.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of various development initiatives, including drinking water supply projects and sewage treatment plant works under the GHMC limits.

The CM directed officials to expedite the completion of all pending works and emphasised the need for efficient execution to improve urban living standards.
With the onset of the monsoon, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of maintaining sanitation across the city and instructed officials to take proactive steps to prevent seasonal diseases such as dengue and chikungunya.

He also ordered identification of water stagnation points and implementation of preventive measures to avert drainage overflow and ensure that drinking water remains uncontaminated. Special focus was laid on mosquito control and hygiene standards in vulnerable areas.
The officials also presented a detailed status report on the development of H City. In response, CM Revanth Reddy instructed them to prepare long-term plans for the core urban region located within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), with a vision spanning the next 25 years.
He emphasised that future infrastructure planning must include comprehensive proposals covering drinking water supply, drainage systems, road networks, metro rail connectivity, and elevated corridors.
Highlighting the rapid urbanisation and demographic growth in and around Hyderabad, the Chief Minister asked officials to formulate a clear and cohesive urban policy specifically for the core city, while also devising tailored development strategies for semi-urban and rural regions adjacent to the urban core. He called for an integrated and forward-looking approach that balances current needs with future expansion.
The meeting was attended by CM Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, CM Secretary Manik Raj, MA&UD Secretary under HMDA Ilambarthi, District HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, FCDA Commissioner K.
