Modi govt transforming Anganwadis into centres for nutrition, health and education: Bandi Sanjay

Karimnagar, Oct 1 (UNI) union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the Narendra Modi-led government was transforming Anganwadis from mere nutrition centres into integrated facilities providing nutrition, healthcare, pre-school education and digital monitoring.
Speaking at the ‘Angan Milan Seva’ programme organised by BJP Mahila Morcha at Teegalaguttapalli here on Thursday under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, Bandi Sanjay said over Rs 1.77 lakh crore had been spent during the past 12 years on Anganwadis and nutrition for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
He said two lakh Anganwadi centres were being upgraded in phases as ‘Saksham Anganwadis’ with facilities such as Wi-Fi, LED screens, RO plants and smart learning tools. He said the Poshan Tracker was digitally monitoring Anganwadi services and the growth of children.
Bandi Sanjay inspected the nutrition facilities at an Anganwadi centre and felicitated Anganwadi teachers, helpers and workers for their services. He also inspected a newly constructed mid-day meal shed and distributed certificates under the Aasara Foundation.
Earlier, he laid the foundation stone for a drain pipeline and CC road at Chandrapuri Colony at a cost of Rs 65.30 lakh under UIDF and participated in the inauguration of school infrastructure works worth Rs 1.05 crore.
