Kerala Cyber police warn of fake India-West Indies ODI ticket offers

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 24 (UNI) Cyber fraudsters are reportedly using social media to offer fake tickets for the first ODI cricket match between India and the West Indies and dupe cricket fans of large sums of money, the cyber police warned here on Thursday.
The fraudsters are placing attractive advertisements on fake Instagram pages, claiming that tickets are available and displaying the match date, venue and ticket rates. Those responding to the advertisements are redirected to WhatsApp for the purported booking process.
The fraudsters then send fake booking forms seeking personal details, including the name, address, phone number and email ID. After collecting a small amount as an advance for reserving the ticket, they send a fake order confirmation message claiming that the booking has been completed.
