Fake stock investment scam using names of leading firms: Cyber Police warn

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 22 (UNI) Kerala Cyber Police have warned of organised groups carrying out large-scale fraudulent investment schemes on social media by misusing the names of prominent stock trading companies and creating the impression that investors can earn huge profits through stock market investments.
The fraudsters are attracting people by creating AI-generated videos featuring leading personalities from the stock market and heads of reputed companies and using them in advertisements circulated through social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The advertisements offer the prospect of huge profits from stock investments and are designed to make the fraudulent schemes appear genuine and trustworthy.
People who show interest in such advertisements and click on the links are subsequently added to WhatsApp and Telegram groups on the pretext of providing training and guidance in stock trading. The fraudsters then circulate links to fake applications and websites that closely resemble those operated by leading trading companies and persuade the members of the groups to download the applications.
