Telangana ACB catches three government officials, two private persons in separate bribery cases

Hyderabad, Oct. 15 (UNI) The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested government officials and private persons in three separate bribery cases involving a total of Rs. 3.78 lakh, the Agency said in a release.
In the first case, an Assistant Engineer of TGSPDCL in the Madannapet section of Hyderabad was caught red-handed by ACB officials while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 1.20 lakh.
The accused, identified as Pandala Sandhaya Rakesh, allegedly demanded the amount for approving the complainant's online applications for sanctioning six new electricity meters in place of old missing meters.
The bribe amount was recovered from his possession, the ACB said.
In a second case, a Deputy Tahsildar of Keesara mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district and a Village Revenue Officer (VRO) were named in a bribery case involving a private person.
According to the ACB, Deputy Tahsildar Amanaganti Sandeep Kumar Reddy allegedly demanded Rs. 5 lakh and accepted a part payment of Rs. 2.50 lakh through a private person, Kavali Balakrishna, for processing the removal of agricultural properties belonging to the complainant's mother and other family members from the prohibited list under Section 22-A of the Registration Act, 1908.
The ACB alleged that Village Revenue Officer (VRO) Nannuri Vijay Kumar Reddy, acting on the Deputy Tahsildar's instructions, instigated the private person to receive the bribe. The amount of Rs. 2.50 lakh was recovered from the private person's possession.
The three accused were being produced before the court for judicial remand, the ACB said.
In the third case, a Tahsildar-cum-Joint Sub-Registrar of Vemulawada Rural in Rajanna Sircilla district was caught by ACB officials while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000 through a private person identified as Sankasala Anil Kumar, a Bhu Bharathi operator.
The bribe was allegedly sought to facilitate registration of a gift deed relating to agricultural land belonging to the complainant's aunt, in the name of the complainant's father.
The amount was recovered from the private person's possession, according to the ACB.
The cases are under investigation.
